W. and s. temperate South America;
Fragmented distribution in the nw. part of its range;
(1) N. Peru.
(2) C. Peru (vicinity of Lake Junin).
(3) S. Peru, c. and sw. Bolivia and nw. Argentina.
(4) N. Chile.
(5) S. Brazil, s. Paraguay, and Uruguay (Banado los Indios) to c. Chile and Argentina to Tierra del Fuego.
