Range

Circumpolar; Southern Ocean; Generally between 30°S and the pack ice;
Breeds on Kerguelen, Crozet, Auckland, Antipodes, Macquarie, Prince Edward (?), Marion (?) and Campbell (?) Is.
Disperses to waters in the s. Pacific off s. Chile (w. entrance to the Straits of Magellan between 75° and 90°W), in the sc. Pacific between 166°W, 48°S and 94°W, 41°S, and in the s. Atlantic off the coasts of Argentina and South Africa (consistently between 3°E, 58°S and 12°E, 50°S, numerous at 8°E, 46°S and between 19°W, 61°S and 22°W, 62°S). Concentrates in the s. Indian Ocean between 52° and 64°S, off s. Australia (Western Australia to the Dampier Archipelago, South Australia, Victoria (Portland) to n. New South Wales (Cape Howe and Wollongong), 128°E, 46°S), Tasmania, New Zealand (North and South Islands, ca. 320km e. of Wellington in the Spring and Fall).
