Disperses mainly into e. n. Pacific Ocean in w. Mexican waters off Sonora, Sinaloa, Nayarit, Jalisco, Colima and Guerrero s. offshore to seas just n. of the Galapagos Is. and n. to the United States (c. California, Monterey Bay and Mendocino County) and sw. Canada (sw. British Columbia).

Winter: CAL (n. to Santa Barbara, Monterey Bay and in years of warmer waters to Mendicino County).
