Range

Circumpolar; Southern Ocean n. to 40°S; Antarctica;
(1) Breeds on South Georgia, South Shetland, South Sandwich, South Orkney, Bouvet, Scott Is., Antarctica (w. Ross Sea, Antarctic Peninsula and the mainland sometimes as far inland as 300km).
(2) Balleny Is., Geologie Archipelago and coastal Antarctica (Adelie Land, 140°E). Mixed colonies occur in Adelie Land, Cape Hallett, Cape Hunter, Casey, South Orkney Is. and Proclamation Rock. In February and March, it is confined to a narrow zone around the Antarctic Continent.
Disperses n. during September in the Atlantic and Indian Oceans to ca. 50°S, and in the Australian and Pacific sectors, to ca. 55°S;
