Se. Alaska s. in w. Canada, w. United States to sw. Mexico;
(1) Se. Alaska in the mountains of British Columbia, Washington, and Oregon to California (mainly w. of the Sierra Nevadas) to ex. nw. Mexico (n. Baja).
Winters in w. Mexico in s. Baja, Sinaloa and Oaxaca.
(2) W. Mexico (locally in s. Baja in the Sierra de la Laguna (Victoria Mountains), Cape District).
(3) Channel Is. (s. California).
Winter range is unknown.
