Sw. South America;
Andes in s. Chile (Coronel/Pichiahuel area) and Argentina (Nequen and Valdivia) s. to Tierra del Fuego.
Winters mainly in c. Chile n. to El Palomo and Ovalle. Some birds winter in breeding range between Concepcion and Chiloe Is.
