Arctic Europe and Asia to w. Alaska;
Narrow band across n. Europe from n. Norway, Finland e. across n. Russia (Kolguyev Is.) to ne. Siberia (Chukotsk Peninsula and s. to Kamchatka). Ex. w. Alaska (occasionally the Aluetians, St. Lawrence Is., and Cape Lisburne s. to Wales).
Winters in mostly w. and e. Africa and se. Asia.
