Fragmented island populations;
(1) Lesser Sundas (Kisar, Sermata, and Luang) and Kai Is. N. Moluccas (Morotai and Halmahera s. to Obi). W. Papuan Is. (Waigeo, Salawati, Misool, and Batanta Is.). W. and n. New Guinea and Yapen Is.
(2) Tanimbar Is.
(3) C. to se. New Guinea.
(4) Sc. New Guinea.
(5) Louisiade Archipelago (Tagula Is.).
(6) Se. New Guinea (Trans-Fly region), islands in the Torres Strait, and ne. Australia (n. Queensland, Cape York Peninsula).
(7) Coastal n. Australia (Melville Is., Cobourg Peninsula, and shores of Van Diemen Gulf).
(8) N. Australia (ex. ne. Western Australia (Kimberley), through the n. Northern Territory to Gulf of Carpentaria, ex. nw. Queensland).
Nonbreeding birds probably of this race occur in the Kai Is. and Aru Is.
