Range

W. to c. Africa;
Three populations;
(1) Senegambia and sw. Mali, Guinea, Sierra Leone, n. Ivory Coast, se. Ghana, and s. Benin e. to Nigeria e. to n. Cameroon (Adamaoua Plateau). Birds in nw. Central African Republic are of uncetain race;
(2) Nc. Cameroon (Tibati) e. to s. Central African Republic, sw. Sudan, n. Zaire s. to n. Kasai and n. Maniema. Wc. Ethiopia.
(3) Angola, se. and e. Zaire s. from s. Kasai, s. Maniema, and Kivu, Zambia, n. Malawi to w. Tanzania n. to w. Kenya and Uganda.
