Fragmented island distribution in the West Indies;
(1) S. Canada from s. Alberta across s. Canada to Nova Scotia, c., e. and se. United States (n. California, e. Oregon, c. Washington, s. Idaho, n. Utah, se. Wyoming s. to se. Texas, Gulf States, s. Florida and Florida Keys.
(2) Sw. United States to s. Mexico (s. Baja, Tres Marias Is., Socorro Is., to Oaxaca and Veracruz to the Isthmus of Tehuantepec).
(3) West Indies (Bahamas and Greater Antilles e. to Virgin Is. and recently Little Cayman Is.).
Introduced to Hawaiian Is. and Bermuda.
