Range

E. Europe to c. Asia and nc. Africa;
Fragmented distribution;
(1) Se. Europe (s. Hungary, to Balkans, s. Romania, Turkey, Saudi Arabia e. to Iraq, w. and n. Iran, Caucasus, Transcaspia n. to Aral Sea, s. Kazakhstan, Turkestan, and probably w. China (w. Sinkiang).
Winters in ne. Africa (Ethiopia).
(2) S. Morocco, s. Algeria, s. Tunisia, Libya s. Mauritania, Sengal, Nigeria, and Cameroon.
(3) Egypt.
Winters s. to Sudan and Ethiopia.
(4) Oases in the Sahara in Niger, Chad (Lake Chad) s. to Nigeria and e. to c. Sudan (Khartoum), and Djibouti.
(5) Coastal n. Somalia.
