Range

W. New Guinea, sw. and e. half of Australia, and Tasmania;
Four populations;
(1) Isolated population in w. New Guinea (Wissel Lake area of the w. Snow Mountains).
(2) Sw. Australia (sw. Western Australia from Esperance Bay n. to Carnarvon (Leeton Swamp, Avalon Swamp and Herdsman Lake) and Shark Bay).
(3) E. Australia (cs. Northern Territory, e. South Australia (Flinders Range), Victoria, New South Wales, s. Queensland n. to the Atherton Tablelands (Lake Bindegolly and Sherwood Forest Park near Brisbane) and Australian Capital Territory (Jerrabomberra Wetlands).
(4) Tasmania and islands of Bass Strait.
