(1) Europe (s. British Isles, Scandinavia n. to the Arctic Circle, Biebrza Marsh, Poland) n. to Arctic Circle across n. Russia to Siberia to the n. Altai, upper Lena River, Transbaicalia, n. Mongolia and ne. China (nw. Heilungkiang (n. Manchuria)) and s. to c. and s. France, n. Italy, the Balkan Peninsula, Turkey to w. and s. Iran, Caucasus Mountains, and n. Turkestan.
Winters in n. and c. Africa, n. India, and s. Asia.
(2) C. Asian deserts from the lower Volga to n. Turkestan, e. Kazakhstan (Lake Zaysan), w. Altai, to w. and s. Mongolia. .
Winters in n. India.
