Range

Himalayas to sc. China. C. to e. Asia and Japan;
Two major populations and several smaller island populations;
(1) E. Asia in Siberia (Lake Baikal) to ne. China, Korea, Kuril Is., Shantar Is. Japan (Hokkaido and Honshu) and Taiwan.
(2) W. Himalayas in e. Afghanistan, n. Pakistan, n. India (Kashmir e. to Arunachal Pradesh).
(3) E. Himalayas in s. Tibet.
Winters in S. Burma, s. Thailand and the Greater Sundas.
(4) Sw. China (Tsinghai, se. Kansu and s. Shensi s. to Yunnan).
Winters in Indochina and Malaysia.
