Range

E. and se. Australia and Tasmania;
Two populations;
Coastal e. Australia (ex. se. South Australia, Victoria (Brisbane Ranges National Park and Ferntree Gully National Park), New South Wales (Barrington Tops), Australian Capital Territory (Brindabella Ranges at Tidbinbilla) and s. Queensland. Tasmania (Mount Wellington, Bruny Island along the road from Adventure Bay to Lunawanna Road and Maria Island).
Non-breeding birds occur in ne. and e. New Guinea, and the Bismarck Archipelago (New Britain) and sparsely in coastal e. Australia s. to the Brisbane area.
