E. and w. coasts of North America, West Indies, Central America, Caribbean Sea and n. South America;
(1) Throughout the West Indies including the s. Bahamas (Great Inagua and Caicos), Greater Antilles e. to the Virgin Is. and St. Martin.
(2) E. United States from Maryland and North Carolina to Texas, e. Mexico (is. off Yucatan Peninsula), Belize, Guatemala, s. Honduras (Bay Fonseca), Nicaragua, Costa Rica (Gulf of Nicoya), Panama, Pearl Is., Colombia, Venezuela (Delta Amacuro, Orinoco), Aruba to Los Roques, Trinidad, Tobago, Guyana, Surinam, French Guiana and ex. n. Brazil.
(3) Sw. United States (wc. California, Channel Is.), is. in Gulf of California, Isabela Is. and Tres Marias Is. to sw. Mexico.
