(1) S. and e. Europe (Alps, Pyrenees, Carpathians and other mountains) to nw. Africa (ne. Algeria) and e. through the Balkans, Greece, Turkey and nw. Iran (Caucasus).
(2) C. Asia (Transcaucasus and Transcaspia e. to Turkestan, e. Kazakhstan, ne. Iran, n. Afghanistan (Pamir Mountains) to the Himalayas of Pakistan, India, Tibet, w., c., and ne. China, possibly Mongolia and sw. Siberia in the Altai Mountains.
