(1) N. Europe in s. Scandinavia e. across c. Russia to the Ural Mountains.
Winters in s. Europe.
(2) S. Europe in the n. Mediterranean region, and nw. Africa (Morocco, Algeria, and Tunisia).
(3) Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, and Israel.
Winters in ne. Egypt.
(4) Caucasus in s. Russia, and n. Iran in Transcaspia (c. and e. Turkestan).
Winters in Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan.
Introduced to Azores, se. Australia (ex. se. South Australia, Victoria and se. New South Wales), Tasmania, New Zealand, Uruguar, and ne. Argentina.
