Range

The following two groups apparently intergrade in n. Iran and probably e. Russia;
(1) W. and c. Europe from s. Sweden and s. Finland to nw. Russia.
Winters s. to Mediterranean and Black Sea.
Introduced to se. Australia, Tasmania, New Zealand, Bermunda and Uruguay.
Introduced to the United States, but now extirpated.
(2) British Isles, Channel Is. and w. Netherlands.
Introduced to se. Australia (ex. se. South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales and se. Queensland) and Tasmania.
(3) Azores, Madeira, Canary Is. and w. Mediterrranean region in nw. Africa e. from Morocco.
(4) Corsica, Sardinia and Sicily.
(5) E. Mediterranean from s. Yugoslavia to Bulgaria, Greece, and Crete.
(6) Rhodes, Karpathos, Cyprus, Egypt to Asia Minor, n. Iraq and nw. Iran.
(7) Sw. Siberia from Ural Mountains to Yenisey River.
(8) Crimean Peninsula to Caucasus and ne. Turkey.
(9) N. Iran (Talysh Mountains to Elburz Mountains).
(10) Iran to n. Afghanistan and w. China (Xinjiang).
Winters of s. Iran.
(11) Sc. Siberia to Lake Baikal and nw. Mongolia.
Winters in Turkestan.
(12) W. Himalayas in Pakistan, nw. India (Kashmir), Nepal, and w. Tibet.
