Coastal se. North America, Central America and n. South America;
(1) Coastal United States in the w. from San Diego and in the e. from Long Island s. along both coasts to Mexico from c. Baja, s. Sonora and in the interior in the s., Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, the West Indies (Bahamas, Greater Antilles, Grand Cayman e. to the Virgin Islans and w. to Old Providence, St. Andrews), Colombia, w. Ecuador, ex. nw. Peru, n. Venezuela and Netherlands Antilles to n. of the Orinoco Delta.
(2) Trinidad (Caroni Swamp) and Tobago. (3) S. of the Orinoco Delta occurring further inland in Guyana, Surinam, Guiana and ne. Brazil to Maranhao and Piaui.
