Range

Japan
Breeds in Japan (c. Honshu s. to Kyushu). The n. most breeding site is the Izu-shoto (Seven Is.) Archipelago 100km off Yokohama, also Kanagawa, Shizuoka in the vicinity of Tokyo, Yamanashi near Fujiama, Gifu and Tokushima near Osaka. Migrates through se. China (lower Yangtze Valley s. to Kiangsi, Fukien and probably further s.).
Winters in the s. Ryukyu Is., n. Taiwan, Volcano Is., the Philippines (Leyte, Luzon, Mindanao, Siquijor and Palawan), Palau Is. and Sulawesi.
