Range
S. Central America, nw. and wc. South America s. to nw. Argentina; Se. c. South Amreica;
Two populations;
(1) Caribbean slope of Costa Rica and Panama, Colombia, n. Venezuela (Zulia and Tachira to Guarica and Sucre), w. of the Andes to ex. n. Ecuador and e. of the Andes through e. Ecuador, e. Peru (Rio Tavara, Puno), e. Bolivia and immediately adjacent Brazil.
(2) Is very local in nw. Argentina (Salta, Jujuy and Tucuman).
(3) Separate population extending from se. Brazil (wc. Mato Grosso and locally from c. Goias and Rio de Janeiro to Rio Grande do Sul) to ex. ne. Argentina (n. Misiones in the vicinity of the Iguazu Falls).
