W., s. and c. Madagascar from the coast opposite Nosy Be to Nosy Manitra (this is a small is. where it nests in a patch of remnant forest said to haunted by spirits), the Antsalova region and frequently around Lake Alaotra, also the Mahavavy River delta in the nw. and the Mangoky River delta in the sw.
