Scandinavia to w. and s. Russia and Poland (Biebrza Marsh) s. to n. Mediterranean region including Crete, and Turkey to n. Iran, and nw. Afghanistan, Transcaspia, w. Caspian Sea region e. to Kirghiz steppes, and sw. Siberia.
Winters in the Mediterranean Basin, Africa just s. of the Sahara (Senegal, Sudan), Arabia, and Iran.
