Range

India and Sri Lanka; Se. Asia; S. New Guinea and n. Australia;
Three populations;
(1) S. New Guinea from Merauke to Port Moresby between the Digul River and Fly River, islands in the Torres Strait, n. Australia from the Fitzroy River s. to Port Hedland in n. Western Australia and e. in n. Northern Territory (Top End and Kakadu National Park on Yellow Waters cruise), n. and e. Queensland to Innisfail and ex. ne. New South Wales s. to Sidney.
Disperses w. to the Ashburton River and e. to s. New South Wales.
(2) Pakistan, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Burma, nw., c. and peninsular Thailand (Hat Chao Mai National Park), Cambodia (Chhep District of Preah Vihear Province), South Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia.
