S. South America;
Coastal Peru s. from Lima, Lambayeque, La Libertad, Lima, Tacna and Bosque Pomac near Chiclayo to n. Chile in the c. valley and coastal zone s. from Antofagasta to Magallanes and Tierra del Fuego and Cape Horn and s. Argentina n. to Neuquen and Rio Negro in Patagonia.
Migrates n. in the austral winter to Tucuman, Cordoba and Buenos Aires in n. Argentina and the Falkland Is.
