Sw. Australia; E. Australia;
Two populations;
Throughout Australia, but mostly in w. and n. Western Australia, n. Northern Territory (Arnhem Land), Queensland (migrates in the winter across the Torres Strait), New South Wales (Lake Cowal near Ivanhoe), Victoria and e. South Australia. Breeds mainly in se. Australia (Victoria, New South Wales) and Tasmania.
Disperses to n. Australia, s. New Guinea and Indonesia(?).
