S. Mauritania, Senegambia (Senegal Delta), Guinea-Bissau (Logoa de Cufada), c. Mali, Guinea, Sierra Leone (Freetown), Liberia, Ivory Coast, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Togo, Benin, c. Niger, Nigeria, c. Chad, Cameroon, Central African Republic, nc. Sudan, Ethiopia to c. Somalia and s. through Gabon, Congo, Zaire, Uganda (Lake Kyoga), Rwanda, Burundi, Kenya, Tanzania including Pemba, Zanzibar and Mafia Is., Angola, Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, n. Botswana (Okavango Delta), ne. Namibia, e. South Africa (n. and e. Transvaal, n. Natal, Zululand and Port Elizabeth) and Madagascar (Lake Bemamba, vicinity of Morondava, lakes of Soalala, Sakaka Lake, Antsohihy and Maromandia marshes).
