Range

The entire Andes cordillera of w. South America; E. to s. tropical South America;
Two populations;
(1) Nw. Venezuela (Merida Andes) s. in the Andes through Colombia (c. Andes from Cauca to Narino and e. Andes to Cundinamarca), Ecuador, c. Peru including coastal regions, w. Bolivia (La Paz, Pando, Beni, Cochabamba, Santa Cruz, Oruro and Chuquisaca), n. and w. Argentina (Tucuman, Cordoba and Santa Fe s. in the w. to Tierra del Fuego) and Chile (Aconcagua to Llanquihue and Torres del Paine National Park).
(2) S. Brazil (Piaui, Minas Gerais, Bahia (Chapada Diamantina), Alagoas, Paraiba, Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo to Rio Grande do Sul), Paraguay, Uruguay and ne. Argentina.
