Range
Ex. sc. United States through Central America to n. South America; Ne. South America; S. tropical South America;
Three populations;
(1) Sc. United States (c. and se. Texas), nw. Mexico (Sonora, Durango, Zacatecas) s. to Panama (including Taboga Is.) and n. Colombia and n. Venezuela.
Formerly s. Arizona.
(2) E. Colombia and ex. nw. Venezuela to Surinam and s. in Brazil to the Amazon then e. at least from Manaus or the Rio Branco to Isla Marajo or the Atlantic coast, Netherland Antilles (Curacao, Aruba), Margarita Is. and Trinidad.
(3) Ex. se. Peru (Pampas de Heath) and se. Brazil s. from Mato Grosso, Gois and Bahia (Chapada Diamantina) through n. and e. Bolivia (Beni, Santa Cruz, Chuquisaca, Tarija), Paraguay, Uruguay to n. and c. Argentina s. to Rio Negro.
