Range

Sw. Iberian Peninsula and North Africa; Africa s. of the Sahara; India and se. Asia to New Guinea;
Three populations;
(1) Sw. Iberia (Spain and Portugal) and nw. North Africa (n. Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia). Egypt (lower Nile Valley). Sw. Arabia in s. Arabia and Yemen. Africa s. of the Sahara in sw. Mauritania, Senegambia, s. Mali, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togo, Benin, Burkina-Faso, s. Niger, Nigeria, s. Chad, c. and s. Sudan, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Somalia and Kenya (Nairobi National Park). Zambia, Malawi, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Botswana, s. Angola, Namibia and South Africa.
(2) Pakistan, e. Afghanistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, s. and e. China (Yunnan, Kwangsi, Chekiang and probably Hopeh), Indochina and Malay Peninsula.
(3) Greater Sunda (Sumatra, Java, Borneo and including Muna Is., Butung Is., Kalao Is., Tanahjampea Is.), Sulawesi, the Philippines, Kalao and Lesser Sundas (Lombok, Sumba, Flores, Alor, Timor).
(4)C. and e. New Guinea.
