C. Central America to se. tropical South America;
S. Mexico (s. Veracruz, Oaxaca, Tabasco, Chiapas and possibly Campeche) through Central America in Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama (Chagres National Park, Darien National Park, and Kuna Yala Indigenous Reserve in San Blas), n. and e. Colombia (n. and c. Choco along the Rio Salaqui, Bando Mountains, upper Magdalena Valley near Tolima and e. of the Andes in nw. Meta and Vaupes) s. and e. through Venezuela, Guyana, Surinam and Guiana, e. Ecuador, c. and e. Peru (Tambopata River, Madre de Dios), c. and e. Bolivia (Cochabamba, Santa Cruz) and n., e. and se. Brazil n. of the Amazon in the Rio Branco region and s. of the Amazon from Para and Bahia to Mato Grosso and Rio Grande do Sul), se. Paraguay (San Rafael National Park) and ex. n. Argentina (Salta, Jujuy, Tucuman, Formosa, Misiones).
