Range

W. Himalayas to se. Asia and e. China; Sw. India and Sri Lanka; Japan;
Three populations;
(1) W. Himalayas of n. India (Kashmir e. to Arunachal Pradesh and n. Assam) and Nepal e. to s. and e. China from Yunnan, s. Anhwei and Chekiang s. to Kwangsi, Kwangtung and Hainan and from Heilungkiang to Kirin, Taiwan and s. to w. Burma, n. Indochina (Vietnam), n. Malay Peninsula.
Winters s. to c. India and se. Asia.
(2) Sw. India (w. Ghats in Kerala and w. Mysore) and Sri Lanka.
(3) Japan (Hikkaido, Honshu and Shikoku).
Winters in Taiwan.
