E. Europe irregularly w. to Sweden and Germany, Hortobagy National Park, Hungary and more regularly in e. Romania, Ukraine, c. and sw. Russia s. to the Caucasus, Aral Sea, Lake Balkhash, Turkestan and ex. n. Iran to sw. Siberia (Lake Baikal and Transbaicalia), nw. China (w. Sinkiang) and perhaps n. Mongolia.
Winters s. in s. Europe, Africa s. of the Sahara, Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Burma, e. and s. China.
