E. of the Andes in ne. and se. Colombia (Santa Marta region, Cesar, Meta, Vaupes), w. and s. Venezuela (Tachira, s. Bolivar), Guyana, Surinam, Guiana s. through Amazonian, e. and se. Brazil (w. to the Rio Negro and Rio Madeira, Goias, w. and se. Bahia, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo and e. Mato Grosso), e. Ecuador, e. Peru, n. and e. Bolivia (Pando, Santa Cruz), Paraguay to n. Argentina (Misiones).
Birds in Colombia and Ecuador may be migrants from the s., since all records have been between March and June.
