C. Africa along the s. border of the Sahara. E. Africa;
Fragmented distribution with two main populations;
Senegambia e. in s. Mali, Burkina Faso, s. Ivory Coast, s. Ghana, Benin, Nigeria, s. Niger, Cameroon, s. Chad (Lake Chad area), n. Central African Republic and s. Sudan to sw. Ethiopia. Uganda, c. and se. Kenya (Turkwell River, Lake Baringo, Samburu Game Reserve and Shaba Game Reserve, Kora National Reserve, Meru, Tsavo National Park and Tangarire National Park).
