C. Asia;
Plateau of Tibet (Damxung along Qinghai-Tibetan Highway ca. 100km n. of Lhasa) extending in small numbers s. into nw. India (e. Ladakh) and w. and c. China (Xinjiang, Qinghai, Gansu (Yanchiwan Nature Reserve) and Sichuan).
Migration through Lake Yamdrok Tso, Tibet.
Winters in s. Tibet (Qinghai Plateau, and Karze (Kazi) Reservoir in Lhunzhub country), Bhutan, ne. India (Ladakh, nw. Arunachal Pradesh and Assam(?)) and w. China (Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau from w. Kansu e. to e. Tsinghai).
