Fragmented distribution:
(1) S. Mauritania, s. Mali, Senegambia, Guinea-Bissau, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togo, Benin, s. Niger, Nigeria, Cameroon, Gabon, s. Chad (Lake Chad), Central African Republic and n. Zaire.
(2) Chad, s. Sudan, Ethiopia (upper Nile River Basin) and nw. Kenya (n. shore of Lake Turkana).
