S. Central America to c. and e. South America;
Fragmented distribution;
(1) S. Mexico (Veracruz, Oaxaca, Tabasco and Chiapas) and Honduras to Panama, Colombia and w. Ecuador.
(2) Formerly in the West Indies (Jamaica).
(3) N. Venezuela, Guyana, Surinam, Guiana, Amazonian and e. Brazil (Rio Solimoes, Rio Negro and Rio Guapore regions to Para, Bahia (Valenca), Alagoas, Espirito, Santo, Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo), e. Ecuador, e. Peru and e. Bolivia.
