Fragmented distribution:
(1) Africa from Senegambia e. across s. Mali, s. Niger, s. Chad, nw. and ne. Egypt, s. Sudan, Ethiopia and Kenya and s. to s. South Africa. Madagascar except in the s. In Asia from Pakistan, India (n. Kashmir), e. to e. and s. China (Long Valley, Hong Kong) and Japan s. from n. Honshu to the Greater Sundas (Java), Lesser Sundas (Sumbawa), the Philippines and Taiwan.
(2) Australia (nw. Western Australia, Northern Territory, Queensland (Abattoir Swamp), New South Wales (Deniliquin at Avalon Swamp in the summer), Victoria and se. South Australia) and Tasmania.
