Range

Se. Moluccas, s. New Guinea, and Australia;
Single large population with small isolated populations;
Se. Moluccas (Aru Is., Kai Is., and Watubela Is.), and is. in the Torres Strait, locally in s. New Guinea e. to Orangerie Bay (breeding status uncertain), Louisiade Archipelago (Misima, vagrant?), Australia (sw. Western Australia, Northern Territory, Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria (Corner Inlet), se. South Australia (Coorong) from the w. coast of the Eyre Peninsula to Bass Strait islands (King Is., Flinders Is.) and Tasmania (Furneaux Is., Derwent River estuary, Pittwater).
