Range

E. Africa;
(1) Lake Chad area, s. Sudan, Uganda, e. Zaire, w. Kenya, Tanzania and n. Malawi. Isolated populations in w. Angola and ne. Nigeria where it may not breed.
(2) Tanzania, se. Zaire, Zambia and Malawi to e. Angola, ne. Namibia, n. Botswana, n. Zimbabwe, Malawi, s. Mozambique and ne. South Africa (n. Natal).
