Fragmented distribution;
N. Europe from Scotland and Scandinavia e. across n. Russia (Arctic is.) and n. Siberia to the Chokotski Peninsula and Anadyrland. Mountains of c. Europe. S. Siberia in the Altai and Lake Baikal region, n. Mongolia s. to nw. China (nw. Sinkiang). W. and n. Alaska from Barrow s. to the Seward Peninsula and St. Lawrence Is.
Migrant at Hortobagy National Park, Hungary.
Winters in the Mediterranean regions and Iran.
