Range
Palearctic;
Fragmented distribution in Asia;
(1) Iceland (Utherad), Faeroe Is. and Shetland Is.
Winters s. to sw. Europe.
(2) Europe (s. Scandinavia, Baltic States, c. Russia, Netherlands, Biebrza Marsh and Karsiborska Kepa in the mouth of the Swina River, Poland, Senne, w. Slovakia) to w. Asia in c. Siberia s. to n. and e. Kazakhstan and nw. China.
Winters in Israel (Hula Valley), Africa and India.
(3) Ne. Asia in Ussuriland and probably Kamchatka and s. in Mongolia, Manchuria from w. Heilungkiang s. to w. Liaoning.
Winters in China, se. Asia, Taiwan, Philippines and Australia in Western Australia (Broome Bird Observatory), Northern Territory, Queensland (Cairns), New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania.
