Fragmented distribution;
Breeds between forest and s. tundra zones of c. Siberia in w. Transbaicalia, Verkhoyansk Mountains, Koryakland (Koryak Mountains), Chukotski Peninsula, Anadyrland and near Magadan. Commander Is. and n. Kuril Is.
Winters s. to e. India, Indochina, Taiwan, s. China (Guangdong, Hong Kong), Philippines, Indonesia and Australia (w. and n. Western Australia, Northern Territory, c. to e. South Australia (Adelaide ICI Saltworks), w. and coastal Queensland, c. and coastal New South Wales (Leeton Swamp), Victoria) and Tasmania.
