Range
Pacific coast of North America and n. Central America;
Breeds off sw. United States (s. California in San Diego Bay), c. Baja on Scammon Lagoon and Isla San Roques, islands in the Gulf of California (Raza Is., Trinidad Is., George Is.) s. along the w. coast of Mexico to Nayarit.
Winters s. from California through Guatemala to Chile (Mejillones Bay).
