S. Africa and surrounding waters;
Breeds on about 25 small is. from Walvis Bay, cw. Namibia, s. and e. around the Cape of Good Hope (Dassen and Dyer Is.) to Algoa Bay, South Africa.
Occasionally wanders n. to ex. s. Angola in the w. and ex. s. Mozambique (Delagoa Bay, Inhaca Is.) in the e.
