Range

Snares Is. off s. New Zealand;
Restricted range;
Breeds on the e. side of Main Is. (Sinkhole Flat, Penguin Creek, Muttonbird Creek and Hoho Point), Broughton Is. (Phoca Bay). Disperses regularly to New Zealand (n. to Akaroa and the Banks Peninsula, South Island), Stewart, Solander and Chatham Is. and e. to the Antipodes and w. to s. Australia and Tasmania. Pelagic range is unknown, but apparently is away from land at sea; During breeding season, it mainly ranges within 5km of Snares Is. with small groups ranging to 80km.
