Range
Circumpolar; S. Atlantic Ocean; S. Indian Ocean; Seas off s. Australia and New Zealand;
Three breeding populations;
(1) Tierra del Fuego: Chile (Admiralty Sound, Ildefonso, Brecknock Peninsula, Diego Ramirez), Argentina (Staten Is.), Falkland Is. (Steeple Jason and Grand Jason).
Disperses n. along the coasts of s. South America.
(2) S. Indian Ocean on Prince Edward, Marion, Crozet, Kerguelen, Heard and in the sw. Pacific Ocean on Macquarie, Campbell, Auckland, Snares, Bounty and the Antipodes Is.
Disperses n. along the coasts of South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.
(3) S. Atlantic Ocean on Tristan da Cunha, Gough Is., Inaccessible Is. and Nightingale Is. and in the s. Indian Ocean on St. Paul Is. and Amsterdam Is.
Winters n. to 35°S. off Argentina (n. to Buenos Aires), Uruguay, South Georgia, South Africa (Lamberts Bay to Shepstone), s. Western Australia (Perth to Esperance), South Australia, Victoria, Tasmania, Snares and Chatham Is. and Antarctica.
