W. Europe. N. Africa. Middle East. Ex. w. Asia;
Three to four populations;
(1) N. Mediterranean basin of sw. Europe (Portugal, s. Spain in the Spanish Zamora in the Duero River Basin and Extremadura Province in the Tajo River Basin, se. coastal France).
(2) Nw. Africa from Morocco e. in Algeria, Tunisia and nc. Libya, se. Turkey, Israel, Saudi Arabia (Harrat al-Harrah Reserve) and Near East. C. Asia in Iraq, e. and sw. Iran e. to s. Transcaucasus, Uzbekistan and s. Kazakhistan in the Aral Sea region and Turkestan.
Winters in s. Caspian region, se. Pakistan and sw. India.
